Dessert. Recommended.
Vi's is closed on Mondays.
There is no gluten free menu though there are items on the menu that do not contain flour directly. There are no pies or cakes that are gluten free. The peanut butter mousse pie would be considered low gluten as the base of the pie is made with rice krispies. There are many packaged goodies in the bake shop that do not contain flour directly, though being a bakery there is a certain amount of flour in the air and therefore possible contamination.
No. Vi's for pies does not take reservations. It is first come first serve only. If you have a large group (more than 6) it is good to call ahead.
Good, wholesome, food with a nice ambiance and excellent service.
Looking into this place, I was expecting a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Although it is very beautiful inside, I found the two female servers to be very "up-ity" and quite frankly, not very friendly at all. I finished my $10 piece of pie and left as quick as I came. Don't think I will be returning. Had high hopes for my first visit :(
Always great food, great service and awesome atmosphere.
OMFG. I had the brisket for the first time. WOW!!! It was amazing. What a treat!
Food and staff are always amazing. They keep me coming back for more.
Food is unremarkable but expensive.I've been meaning to try Vi's for Pies for years and finally took the plunge. The high reviews and the packed restaurant for Saturday lunch time was deceivingly encouraging.Food:Lasagna soup with bread - soup was okay, bread was fresh (3/5)Brisket entree - with a small placard on the table explaining the wood smoked brisket, it was however definitely not smoked ( even the outer fat layer had zero smoke flavour) and pretty much tasted like pot roast - awful. Cheese grits and beans were okay, while the jalapeno biscuit was good.(1/5)Coconut Cream Pie - not common to fined cream pies around. (4/5)Service: service was good, nothing exceptional but good. (5/5)Value: Fairly expensive for the food your getting(1/5)Do not order the brisket, it's not worth $20+ to have pot roast.
Loveee this place! First time visiting and the food and atmosphere were both excellent! So happy we have something here in Edmonton that really sticks to quality while also being unique and having a mom/pop feel ♥️
The German chocolate cake was so yummy! Excellent service.
Amazing! so glad this shop is open again for dine in and take out - the dessert and home cooking is addictive
Tried 3 different slices of cake and they were all delicious. However, the service we received when ordering was less than desirable. The lady was very unfriendly, snapped at us when we said we needed more time, and didn't even say thank you after we paid. Her attitude definitely soured our experience, especially considering she was the only staff member we interacted with. Maybe they should consider having friendlier staff working the front counter if they want repeat customers.
Great pie but pricey.
Excellent pie and cake. Good service, quaint patio, our current favorite dessert place in Edmonton.
Love the veg lasagna! And beef brisket is always good.. Most of all i love the carrot cake. One of the best.
It's very rare that I don't actually eat my dinner, but it was the most bland food I literally could not eat it 😅 the chicken is WHITE like... Looks like it was just boiled.. no seasoning whatsoever... Five stars for the dessert, would highly recommend!
Had the Shepard’s pie and Chicken pot pie it was so delicious! The selections of desserts made it hard to select which one to eat and couldn’t even take a picture of the whole thing before taking a chunk out of it! The venue is bright and welcoming with big windows and a comfortable atmosphere. Will defiantly be back to try other things on the menu!
The pie is amazing. The cake was amazing. Basically the food is amazing. My only gripe: the staff was a little hard edged when I went, not rude, but definitely not friendly. I'll play devil's advocate and say that maybe it's because it was later in the day on a weekend, and they were quite busy, so maybe the staff was a bit harried, but that shouldn't be much of an excuse. I'd go back because the pie was some of the best I've had.
Have always, and will always love this restaurant. Staff are worth the 5 stars on their own! Food is absolutely incredible
Great place! So far, I've only grabbed dessert to go, but definitely worth the drive. It is a bit cramped and can be very squishy when busy, so keep that in mind if planning to dine in. Even when extremely busy, the staff are friendly and have an incredible system down to ensure you have your goodies delivered as quickly as possible.I've tried the pecan pie and a few different types of their cheesecakes and all were amazing. You can definitely tell the difference in quality products that are made fresh and that, to me, is well worth paying extra for.Looking forward to hopefully stopping in one day to sit and have a meal, and who are we kidding, dessert to go.
Cheesecake is $7.95. Delicious and rich. Beverage options are brewed coffee, lattes, teas, beers and wines. They also have freshly made meals for ordering
Great pies. Everything I've tried is great. The mango cheesecake was awesome, but favorite (so far) is the chocolate cream pie.
Great cafe with comfort food on the menu. The menu is presented to you on a large easel. There are specials all the time too. This is a great place to bring a friend and catch up. You can also end your meal on a sweet note with a slice of cheesecake or pie. All the options are so tempting.
I had an amazing experience with Vi's For Pies! The owner went above and beyond to fulfill a request about a special cake I needed for my mom's birthday. Although it was our first time meeting the owner, we were treated like family. Our order was made with special care and the fresh cake turned out delicious. I have been visiting Vi's for Pies for years and have always have an excellent experience. The food and service are incredible. I highly recommend stopping by for some food and drink or even swinging by the bake shop!
Best place we have found in edmonton for pies!
Vi's for Pies is yummy!I met an old friend at Vi's and we both enjoyed the food. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of our meal as we devoured it :)I ordered a Sheppards Pie with house salad and my friend ordered a quiche.BUT I did take a picture of my turtle cake...and menu board. Service was excellent and timely.Restaurant was clean and not loud so you can actually have a conversation where you are not yelling:)I would definitely go again!
Had German chocolate cake. Was amazing. Highly recommended
An amazing hidden gem in Edmonton. Very causal and comfortable. Everyone feels at ease. Food is home made taste and quality. Doesn’t disappoint at all. The one thing missing is more space as this place, unsurprisingly, seems to always be full. The brisket and the home made beans could easily be classified as some of the best Edmonton has to offer.
The beef brisket on the carmelized onion cheddar bagel was very tasty. Nice light smoke flavour on the brisket, coleslaw on the bagel. Bagel was crisp on the outer cruse but nice and moist inside. Also tried the spicy Spanish ham and barley soup, not too spicy and lots of ham. Finished off with a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie, heated with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The pie crust was very well constructed , light flaky pastry and held together well. Pie filling had a little bit of tartness but the ice cream balanced it out nicely. Definitely a return visit in the future. Well done Vi’s.
Great place for pies and desserts with favorites staying over the years and rotating features all the time. Great ingredients make for delicious pies but they are also an awesome restaurant with great dinning features. Come for the full experience in a wonderful quiet and comfortable and romantic atmosphere. Sit by a fire and have some awesome bbq along with a tasty finisher at the end. Great stuff!
Delicious food, great atmosphere, fair price. They have a wonderful back seating area you can enjoy some sun and fresh air, or the dining area inside serves as a great place to facilitate friendly meetings or lunch dates.
Great little place for desserts/pies. Food is ok for lunch. The atmosphere is nice and great little patio in the summer. Staff could be a little friendlier. But they have been around for years and I like it there.
I stop by the place when I need a slice of comfort and happiness. Obviously get dessert. Whatever speaks to you, they are all delicious, from the dense chocolate to tart lemon. You will leave feeling guilty but satisfied. The menu is surprisingly unique, little exotic, but as previously mentioned. Leave room for dessert.
Really cool, informal, little out-of-the-way place. Excellent food and amazing desserts. The risotto was very good and the chicken pot pie was amazing. The strawberry shortcake was the best anywhere and the key lime cheesecake was really good. They were pretty busy in spite of it being late afternoon but the wait wasn't too bad. The servers were very good.
The pies and cakes and cheesecakes are absolutely delicious. Easily some of the best. However, it's quite pricey...
I love this place, i love my favorite server, Ulrika!!!! She's the best. Great personality, always puts a smile on my face and always glad to see me.
Awesome place for dessert and you really do end your night on a sweet note! Selection of desserts were amazing...so hard to choose one when everything looked so yummy. I regret not asking his name but the guy behind the counter was the definition of good service...so friendly and kept coming over to top up our coffee. We are a little late to the game but now that we have discovered this gèm, we are definitely going to visit more often.
This place is Amazing! Love the cake and pies. Relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff! I recommend this place to everyone.
Delicious desserts. Found out they also serve BBQ. Didn't have any but the place smelled incredible!
I was driving by and decided to pop in and check it out. I have heard about Vi’s Pies, but never tried before. I walked in and the store front was very cute and clean. However, lady working the counter was not very friendly. I tried smiling and making conversation and realized that wasn’t going anywhere. So I just looked at the menu and items on my own. Asked a few a questions about a couple of pies and received abrupt answers. I bought a chicken pot pie and when I got home I noticed there were no baking instructions. I called, the same employee answered and when I asked, she replied “Isn’t it on the box?” I could tell she was annoyed. I am not usually one to leave reviews, but it just goes to show that customer service is key as sadly I did not enjoy my first experience to this lovely little shop.
Best pies in Edmonton. You can stop in for lunch or supper for a decent hearty meal, but dessert is by far the best. They have cake, cheesecake, fruit pies, cream pies and more. If your looking to take home anything they sell by the slice in the main restaurant or full pies out of the bake shop next door. Along with meat pies and other baked goods they also have dog treats for take out as well. Finally if your unsure what you want or need something specific you can always call ahead and put in an order or ask what is available that day.
The setting is quaint and cozy, yet classy. The outdoor patio is comparable to a secret garden to enjoy your lunch in. The service is what loses the fifth star for this restaurant. Some servers simply aren't attentive, and come off as a rude. They save themselves from their poor service with their delicious food such as chciken pot pie, buncwhiches, soup, and salad, amongst other specialities.
The condescending staff was enough for me not to return. How can expect new customers to return when your staff treat them like idiots for asking questions? Something that’s obvious to staff isn’t always obvious to the public, work on serving with a smile maybe?
Super cute little patio! Food was great as always:)
I am not much of a dessert fan but when I am asked to recommend a dessert location Vi's has never disappointed whomever I have recommended. I personally do also like their cheesecakes because they are not too sweet. Perfect for not-real-dessert-eaters like me.
A heaven for people who like dessert. Staff are super friendly. Best place for Pie’s and cheese cake. Heard a lot about brunch menu. Will try it this month.
Great place for a nice lunch in comfortable restaurant
Awesome Chicken salad sandwiches with chicken lentil soup
THIS PLACE IS A GEM. Over the years it has remained one of my favorite places to eat out. Staff are friendly, food is consistently delicious. Can't go wrong eating here! :)
My first time visiting on the recommendation of some friends and I found the place to be quite full. Luckily we were getting some desserts to go so no issue with having to wait. The staff was very patient with our indecisive members and provided us with some great treats.
Great local find. Desserts are must, even if you have to skip dinner to do so. Plus the fireplace is perfect in the winter near the tables. Great find!
